A panel upgrade in a Manhattan co-op is mostly paperwork and riser capacity; the same upgrade in a Staten Island house is mostly the service and the meter. The sections below describe what we see in each part of the city, so you know what to expect before the first visit.

Region 01
Manhattan
Our office is on Fulton Street in lower Manhattan, so the Financial District, Tribeca and the rest of downtown are the shortest trips we make. Across the borough, about 97 percent of homes sit in buildings of six or more units, which is why Manhattan work so often runs through a co-op board, a managing agent and a building engineer. Load letters, riser capacity and alteration agreements come up far more here than panel swaps in houses. Farther uptown, Con Edison's summer 2026 load shifting in Harlem, the East Village and Kips Bay is a reminder that the building side has to be ready for the capacity the street now offers.

Region 02
Brooklyn
Brooklyn is brownstones, row houses and a growing number of new buildings. In Park Slope, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant, the calls are rewires in plaster, fuse box conversions, kitchen and bath renovations and new circuits for air conditioning and induction. Con Edison ran four new feeder cables into Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bedford-Stuyvesant for summer 2026, while the early-July heat wave brought 8 percent voltage reductions across wide parts of the borough. That combination puts surge protection, dedicated circuits and service upgrades high on the list.

Region 03
Queens
Much of Queens is still one- and two-family houses: about 63 percent of the borough's housing sat in those structures by 1960. In Woodhaven, Richmond Hill, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens and Jackson Heights that means driveways that suit EV chargers, basements converted into apartments, knob and tube in attics, and meter banks sized for another era. Queens also took the brunt of the July 2026 heat outages, with more than 15,000 customers affected and Richmond Hill and Flushing among the hardest hit, which is why generators, inlets and surge devices come up so often here. In Long Island City, new towers sit beside older industrial buildings being converted.

Region 04
The Bronx
The Bronx mixes large pre-war apartment buildings, such as those along the Grand Concourse, with one- and two-family houses in neighborhoods like Throgs Neck, Pelham Bay and Riverdale. Apartment buildings bring meter room and riser work, hallway and exit lighting, intercom repairs and turnover punch lists for supers. The houses bring the same panel, service and rewiring work we see in Queens. We schedule planned work across the borough and dispatch emergencies at any hour.

Region 05
Staten Island
Staten Island is the one borough where houses dominate: over 60 percent of its units are single-family homes. That shapes the work toward panel and service upgrades, whole-home surge protection, EV chargers in garages and driveways, and standby generators, which make more sense where there is a yard and a gas service. The July 2026 heat outages reached more than 6,000 Staten Island customers, and backup power questions have come up more since. We cover the island for scheduled work and emergencies alike.
